We had a big weekend planned of parties. A 50th birthday party, a going away party for friends, and a 2nd birthday party. Unfortunately, we only actually were able to attend the 2nd birthday party because I came down with a nasty bout of mastitis. No need to go into how painful and horrible that those breast infections are, but suffice it to say that I was down for the count for two entire days and just laid in bed with my baby. Not a terrible way to spend the day, but under pretty terrible circumstances considering I had a 102 fever for a good portion of it.
So, we’ll skip to the only day I made it out of the house – which was to drive to the 2nd birthday of the daughter of a friend that I’ve been friends with since we were 2. Her family was like family to me growing up, so it is pretty fun to get to see our kids grow up together as well. Wish we lived a little bit closer so that it happened more often, but seems like we always manage to make the drive for parties – which are certainly memorable.
In fact, if I ever have to compete with her birthday parties, then I am in trouble. It’s seriously a trip to Disneyland to go to their house – which is awesome and lucky for us that we’re invited! Let’s just sum up 2 & 3 year old heaven: pony rides, bounce houses, playground, trampoline, piñata, and baby animal petting zoo. Yeah. And it made for some pretty adorable pictures, I have to say:

Not only are we 11 months apart, but so are our daughters, which is really fun. And about 10+ months ago, when Andrea texted me that she was pregnant, I thought she was lying because of course, I was too. When we were little girls we always wanted to have kids the same time, but her first baby is in high school now, and when Eva (her 2 year old daughter) arrived we thought 11 months from Selah was as close as we’d get. BUT – life turned out otherwise – and now we have baby boys just 2 weeks apart. Another friend of mine from high school is actually Andrea’s sister-in-law, and she had “surprise” twins (who happen to be her #4 & #5 kiddos). Those two mommies look awfully good for having 4 & 5 kiddos! I’ll just be sticking to my two and trying to take notes from them ;):
