Happy Halloween

Pretty fun and chaotic night for our crew. Daddy had a game so Grandma and I braved the neighborhood block party with the animals. Then Selah and I headed out for some trick-or-treating with her pals while Ashy & Grandma manned the door armed with candy.

And we ended the night with late candy eating and silliness. Gotta have a few nights like that, and what better time to break the rules than Halloween!

In Other News

I apologize for the lack of recent updates, and now the overload…but I wanted to make sure and upload my favorites before I forget what we’ve done recently.
This one pretty much made my heart explode:

Asher loved telling Papa all about the magazine. Or at least the “car, car, car”. That word is much more clear than “motorcycle”, although there is no mistaking “ride! Ride! Ride!” at the lake with Grandpa:

IMG_9986.JPG
He also was hesitant to leave behind summer and the “boat! Boat! Boat!”:

And last but not least, here’s my little ballerina on observation day (parents are not normally invited to watch, so this was our first visit):

Oh, and as long as I’m documenting life, I should add one line picture of Selah’s trip to the ER a few Friday evenings ago:

IMG_9846.JPG

IMG_9844.JPG
I know, looks scary with the iPad playing and a rice crispy treat. I clearly am making this too enticing to have an “emergency”…but although she seemed fine, it was a staph infection in a cut in her knee, so good we went in to nip that one in the bud! Hoping we’re done with ER’s for awhile. Between Asher in Hawaii and Selah here, I’m done with all of that. Emotionally AND financially, haha.

Better one to end on:

Bro and sis on our Saturday morning coffee run. Sometimes the “normal” stuff is the most fun. 😃

Speaking of the most fun, I’m missing one of the best things in the past few weeks. I regrettably did not take pictures of Gramma Homee and Grampee’s recent visit. I guess I was caught up enjoying them while they were here and playing with the kiddos, but somehow I failed miserably on documentation. I have no good excuse, and I scoured both my phone and Jesse’s, but to no avail. I will just have to suffice it to say that it was of course wonderful to see them and altogether much too short of a visit. ❤️ I guess it means we’ll just have to head to Hawaii soon. 😉😍

Sneak Preview

Just a peek at Asher’s costume for this Halloween:

Thanks to Grandma for making every Halloween so special. She always knows how to create that perfect costume. I’ll hopefully get a few worthwhile pictures of my puppy and kitty to share on Friday! In the meantime, here’s a few from the pumpkin patch a few weekends ago picking out our perfect “pumkeen” as Asher calls them:

Daddy and I also endured another year of the corn maze – a Selah favorite:

I hope we get to pumpkin carving this Halloween…we’ll see. I found this picture last night, and it cracked me up it was so true to my intentions. I could wind up with the pumpkin-on-porch myself this year 😜😉🎃👻

Bath Time

My cutie patootie kiddos playing together tonight in the bath:

I love when they’re laughing together and enjoying each other. It’s pretty much the reason I had two – I always wanted that built-in playmate. Not that it’s always rainbows and unicorns…they have their moments. But tonight was extra sweet. Earlier in the evening Selah hurt her knee and was crying and Ashy came to her “rescue” with a hug and kiss.
They’re alright, those two. I think I’ll keep ’em. 😉

An Evening at the Park

Fun at shipwreck park last night as a family:

Still feels like summer nights at the beach other than it getting dark earlier!

Growing up

I haven’t historically been so on too of documentation of “firsts”. I guess I felt confident I would remember Selah’s firsts – she was my firstborn and it’s all so exciting, how could I forget?! (Read: ummm…pretty easily. I can’t even remember her first food?! Terrible mom). So, anyways, in my effort to blog as a scrapbook, we had another first this week!
First trip to the dentist!

IMG_9790.JPG
I wasn’t sure what to expect. Clearly neither was Selah:

IMG_9788.JPG
But, she not only did x-rays where she has to hold that little sensor in her mouth, but she also powered through an entire cleaning and check-up. I was so proud.

IMG_9791.JPG

IMG_9789.JPG

IMG_9795.JPG
She was pretty pumped afterwards. Partly because she was really nervous and I could tell afterwards had a little but of the remaining adrenaline high from being so nervous, then being so proud of herself for doing so well. And partly because I had promised her a Yogurtland date after!

IMG_9796.JPG
This little growing beauty never ceases to amaze.

IMG_9809.JPG
Since it was Tuesday (ie. game day), it was just myself and the kiddos, so after Yogurtland we decided to go join Crasher at home and paint some mini-pumpkins we grabbed on the way home:

IMG_9814.JPG
The pumpkin painting went faster than expected, so being the quick-thinking improvisational expert (ie. Mother), I made the executive decision to paint rocks after:

IMG_9821.JPG

IMG_9816.JPG
True to most things in life, the improv painted rocks have been the most popular toy all week with Asher, so that’s worked out well.

And, surprise of the week: the morning after the first dentist trip, Selah woke us up in bed and opens with, “Mom, can I go to the dentist again today? That was fun!” I guess I’d call that a success! 😉

Weekend Mash-up

IMG_9782.JPG

We survived the heat wave this weekend and stated cool. Our new windows are in, and we purchased a swamp cooler…both of which made the 100 degree October weather bearable. Seriously, where in the world this heat is coming from is unreal?! But, it was actually cool in our house – something I never thought I’d utter after a 100+ degree weekend.

Thought I’d post just a few videos from this weekend. They were just little clips so I tried to combine them so that you wouldn’t have to do so much clicking…

Here’s our little ham, Asher…doing what he does best…entertaining!

Just another activity we tried to stay cool…which should have been for outside-only use, but it was hot so we made an exception for the bubble party! Don’t worry, the 17 +/- seconds shown here were about the limit before it moved to the baby pool on the lawn:

Not much else to report – we’ll post some “after” pictures once the window install is complete!
