It was Daddy’s idea, and Selah even willingly participated. She couldn’t wait to show Daddy & Asher her “secret garden” we discovered last time. She even thought there might be tadpoles in the pool (it was unfortunately already dried up, so no luck)…and she might have been a teeny weeny bit enticed by our promise of a New Year’s milkshake if no one complained the ENTIRE hike. Nothing like something unhealthy to motivate to do something healthy!
Regardless, it was super fun, there was no (seriously – none!) complaining, from either kid. In fact, I probably was the biggest culprit since I didn’t realize what a chunky monkey Asher was to carry up the hill in the backpack! At least it made for a better workout! 😉
Here’s documentation of the “secret garden”…
This was pretty much my heaven. I guess if I have to make a resolution, mine will be to do this more! We live literally a mile from the trailhead and it is so fun to be outside in the biggest “classroom” ever, seeing my kids learn by doing. I completely appreciate that my parents instilled this love in me, and I can’t wait to pass it on to my littles! And what better way to appreciate living in one of the most beautiful spots on earth?!
